  • APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR 2019 VISION BCSC CLASS

We invite you to learn more about all aspects of the Brownsburg Community School Corporation in a fun and exciting format with the Vision BCSC program. Since it began in January of 2007, Vision BCSC has given people representing all areas of our community the opportunity to take part in an interactive, in-depth ten-month learning experience. Participants go "behind the scenes," meet the people who are responsible for programs and services, and see first-hand how the Corporation creates a climate of success for our growing student population.  The Vision BCSC Class will meet ten times between January and November for approximately two and a half hours once a month. Meetings will occur on Thursday mornings at various school buildings.  CLICK HERE to learn more and get your name on the list for next year's class.

  • DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE COMMITTEE UPDATE

The BCSC Distinguished Graduates Committee was advertised in K-8 newsletters and on the BCSC home page throughout October.  Volunteers with students from elementary through high school gathered for the first meeting on November 1st.  Throughout the meeting, the committee was asked to answer questions after being provided with information and then having time for discussion.  The committee made the decision to recognize students for academics using a multi-level approach.  While they haven’t identified whether BHS will use the Latin system (Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude, etc.) or some different system, they know they would like to set specific GPAs for these awards rather than using a percentage of the graduating class.  This decision will allow students to understand what they need to achieve rather than just hoping they are in the top 5 or 10 percent.  The committee began to explore the possibility of recognizing students for overall involvement, but our time ran out.  An update will be provided after future meetings with a recommendation expected to be given to the BCSC Board of School Trustees at the January Board meeting.  Please contact Assistant Superintendent Kat Jessup with questions or feedback.  kjessup@brownsburg.k12.in.us
