Message from the Principal:

Brown Elementary is a kindergarten through fifth grade elementary building in the Brownsburg Community School Corporation. The school is the renovation of a previously defined junior high school. Renovation of the building began in June of 1997. During the 1998-1999 school year, Brown Elementary partially opened as a Kindergarten and Preschool Center during the remaining construction of the building. August 18, 1999, Brown Elementary opened as a kindergarten through grade six building with 36 certified staff members and 33 support staff members. Brown Elementary has a student population of 665.

Brown Elementary was renovated to include wide hallways, a large cafeteria and a spacious gym. There are four playgrounds. One is for kindergarten and special needs classrooms; and two for the students in grades one through six. A large grassy field area is available during the recess time for ball games. Classrooms are equipped with student computers that are networked for Internet connection. The media center and computer lab are state of the art in equipment and technology. A media retrieval system allows staff members to request multimedia connections from the head-end room to classrooms. Teachers have both voice mail extensions and e-mail addresses for parent communication.

The Brown Elementary Parent/Staff Group came to be in the summer of 1999. Parents that had been active in other schools in Brownsburg came forward to help open a new elementary school with the planning of events and fundraisers. Our Parent/Staff Group continues to be very active. The officers are always seeking volunteers to chair various committees during the school year. Students at Brown Elementary have many opportunities to enjoy activities planned for them throughout the school year.

In the spring of 1999, the staff came together to define the goals for Brown Elementary. Three goals have become the focus for our school. Setting and maintaining a climate that is welcoming and inviting, communication that keeps staff, students and parents focused on goals, and making connections for student learning in academic, behavioral, and personal growth.

Brown Elementary is one of five elementary schools. Eagle, Delaware Trails, Lincoln and Cardinal are elementary schools located in Brownsburg, as well.

Parents and patrons that wish to visit our facilities are required to sign-in at the office and wear visitor identification while in the buildings.
