The Brownsburg High School Astra Chapter of the National Honor Society has
established, in conjunction with the national organization (www.nhs.us), the following
criteria for membership:
• Candidate must be a full time student at Brownsburg High School.
• The student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.6 after
the 4th and 6th semesters.
• The student must be in good standing with the school with no disciplinary issues.
• Upon being invited to apply for membership, the student must complete the
application process which includes not only the application, but also the inclusion
of an essay and a community letter of recommendation.
• The admission of the candidate into the National Honor Society will be
determined by a faculty council on the basis of the four core values of the
National Honor Society: Service, Leadership, Scholarship, and Character
• The faculty council evaluation will be based on all aspects of the application
process including completing an application that exhibits the core values of NHS,
having an appropriate and effective essay and letter of recommendation, and
having faculty evaluations that exhibit strong leadership and character.
