Important News & InformationBHS Art Students Win AwardsCongratulations to the Visual Arts Department who received this week the “keys” student winners for the Scholastic Art & Writing awards. Central and Southern Indiana students sent over 2,400 submissions this year. BHS students who received awards included:
In total, BHS Visual Art students received 28 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards resulting in 8 Gold Keys, 9 Silver Keys and 11 Honorable Mentions. We are very proud of these students and invite you to view the Gold and Silver Key work on display at Clowes Hall of Butler University Tuesday, February 14th through Sunday, February 26th. BHS Theatre Students Place 5thCongratulations to the BHS Theatre students! 44 students represented Brownsburg High School at the Indiana State Theatre Festival, with great success. Their production of CLASS ACTION received a 5th place finish, Jacob Hinnen was awarded “Best Cameo” performance, Claire Waggoner was elected as a State Thespian Officer for the second year in a row, and Madison Turner received a performance scholarship. 10 juniors and seniors auditioned for college representatives - all receiving accolades and call backs from numerous universities. 17 students also received awards in the individual event competitions. All in all, a great weekend for BHS Theatre! Immunization Requirements Parents of 5th grade students are reminded that all children entering 6th grade need to have the following immunizations:
- 1 meningitis vaccine - Tdap vaccine - 2 chicken pox vaccines The Hendricks Co Health department is encouraging parents to schedule their 5th graders now. Check with the Health Department regarding the regulations and office hours. If your health insurance covers the cost of vaccines, the Health Department will not be able to immunize your student. If your student has already had the immunizations, you can send the information to school now. If you have any questions regarding this or other school corporation health contact your school nurse or visit the Student Health Webpage for information. School Board Approves Shuttling RecommendationBeginning the 2012-2013 school year: ~Students who are currently shuttled to attend a school other than their home school may continue to attend their current school if transportation is provided by the students' families until the transition to middle school or redistricting - whichever comes first. ~Licensed day care providers - home and commercial, pay a fee of $2.50 per rider per day. Students who attend day care within their home school boundary would continue to be provided with transportation at no additional cost. |
